Before The Storm

We had another big storm coming our way yesterday so I thought I would take some pictures of my little garden before it hit. Just in case I needed to remind myself what it looked like......

You know....... before the heavy rain..... and before the hail..... and before the tornado that might or might not hit. You know.....all that fun stuff :)

This is my tire loaded with my pea plants. No peas........no buds......just plants. I planted them 2 inches apart, just like the directions said. Perhaps I should have spaced them a little farther apart but heck.......I planted them in the wrong kind of soil so it shouldn't matter much.




This is one of my tomato plants. I don't think it cares much for it's home. Not the right kind of soil.....don't ya know.




These are my pepper plants. They appear to like their new home :)




Say hello to my garlic plants! They were planted in the wrong soil also and since I've never had garlic plants before I'm not sure if they like their new home or not. Looks like I need to do a little weeding there, lol.

My stick of an Apple tree is making a come back! (The deer had taken a big bite off the top and left only one tiny bud.)

Those are my "just in case pictures" I took yesterday.

This afternoon I took my trusty little camera out to see how my garden withstood the onslaught of rain we had yesterday.

LOOK what I found! A bud.....on a pea plant! I can hardly believe it! I'm holding my breath! Can it be??

AND check out my Apple tree! There's lots of new leaves since yesterday! I can hardly believe it :)

AH! The joys of gardening......

Raising Peas

I decided I wanted a raised garden. A garden with the minimum amount of physical labor. A raised garden that would not deteriorate over time. A garden high enough I would not have to bend over.....much. In other words I needed an age related garden. I know there are a huge number of people much older than I that have no trouble working a regular garden........I'm just not one of them, bummer :)

This is how I came up with the idea of using old, worn out tires. And look at my first project.......peas! It's working!

Now I've got to go find more old, worn out tires!

Good Morning!

It's a beautiful day here on Stover Lane. The birds are singing, the squirrels are chasing each other up and down the trees and across the power lines. The deer are roaming, and eating everyone's garden. My neighbor across the street had always fed the deer and, believe it or not, they did not bother our gardens. Unfortunately, he moved. So this year, due to these pesky creatures, we have no gardens. Nil, nada, as in....no one was spared. As for the use of deer repellent...sorry folks, it didn't work. My next door neighbor has a video of 11, yes 11, deer having a feast in their garden. I bet they are the same ones that ate my garden. And speaking
of deer, early last evening I heard a gun shot. I think someone is having deer for dinner.

This is my blog for today. The site is most definitely under construction. I know the look I
want but, unfortunately, I am computer illiterate. I've had to constantly e-mail my sister-in-law
for help to even get this far. Fortunately for me she hasn't told me to get lost! Not yet, anyway.
